A unique first person shooter game that packs all of the graphics and excitement of a console game into a small app

An Overview of Ravenfield

A relatively new game out on the market, still in its first (1.0) version, Ravenfield is a first person shooter that’s causing a lot of big waves due to the fact that it’s a fast-paced action game with tanks, and bombs and all of those other war elements that made franchices like Call of Duty so famous. Of course, since this is just a much smaller piece of software that can be used in Android app form or downloadable for Mac and Windows, this game isn’t as graphically detailed or intense. Though for a free computer game, it has a lot of those classic elements that make wartime FPS games so incredibly popular.

Technically speaking, Ravenfield is a “Battlefield” game, which means it deals specifically with wartime themes. However, where this game stands out above others in the genre is that it has a sandbox element to it, allowing players to build and destroy. In fact, the characters are also very pixelated and blocky-like, just like Minecraft, and the creator Johan Hassel claims that this was a purposeful feature so that the game appealed to a wider audience.

The Features of Ravenfield

There aren’t a ton of features with Ravenfield, but there are still quite a few different levels and different sorts of weapons. For starters, the game is single player only and there is no way to bring another player into the game. You’re basically playing against the NPCs here in this game, and you don’t have any online servers. That’s a big negative for a lot of players right out of the gate. Though you also get to use a range of sniper rifles, machine guns, grenades, and even tanks in this game.

You can choose to fight on the ground (infantry) or you can get into all sorts of different vehicles, which also include fighter jets and boats. The basic gist here is that you’re running around in an open world sandbox and waging war against everything you see, and so a lot of people can end up having all sorts of fun with this game.

How Ravenfield Works

The controls of Ravenfield don’t really differ at all from other games you’re going to play on a computer or on your mobile device. In that sense, it’s a pretty familiar game to get into. Though as you begin to play the game itself, you find out that it’s single-player mayhem mode, meaning that you’re tasked with fighting any and everything that you see. In this sense, it’s more than a bit chaotic and thus you definitely have to pay attention to what’s happening around you.
